THE DOVE STORY - Ontario, CANADA  (2009)

One of the girls here at MFS who lives on the 5th floor of an apartment building, was quite surprised to discover one morning a Dove sitting in her flower pot!

It was the beginning of Spring and the pots only contained dirt and a few dry twigs.  Still, the adult doves managed to gather up a few more sticks/twigs to create a nest.  They came back for a second time that year and had 2 more babies!  Needless to say, she couldn't plant anything in that pot that year.

The following year, she moved the pot to the corner of the balcony, planted some flowers and low and behold - they came back!  The second set of pics show their return.  It was most fascinating to watch them and learn their ways.

A year later again, there were renovations done to the buildings, including the balconies - lots of dust and debris everywhere.  There were no doves that year because of this and so she thought the doves would never return.  However, once again, the following year,  without fail, they were back!  Not only were they back, but they brought along some friends this time - a male house finch (usually red in colour) and his mate.

It has been years later, and up until this day, the doves and finches still return to the place on the balcony they now call home.  She recently told us that she  only started noticing that not only do they return in the spring and summer but in the winter season also!

BUTTERFLY CONSERVATORY -  Ontario,  CANADA  (2010)
A visit to the Butterly Conservatory in Niagara Falls, Ontario is always worth the visit.  It was a great day with so much flora and butterflies to be seen.

"This magical attraction features over 2,000 colourful tropical butterflies floating freely among lush, exotic blossoms and greenery. Paths wind through the rainforest setting, past a pond and waterfall and the Emergence window, where butterflies leave their pupae and prepare to take their first flight!" - Butterfly Conservatory

TALL SAIL SHIPS - Oostende, BELGIUM  (2008)
It was a beautiful sunny, albeit windy, day back in April of 2008, in Oostende, Belgium.  Perfect for the sails and even better for picture taking.  We went wild with the pictures as you can see!

We even took some pictures of miniature model sail ships that were indoors, as well as a stone monument commemorating the liberation of Oostende by the Canadian forces.  Way to go CANADA!  Way to go BELGIUM!
